“Diversity remains one of 1MEF’s top priorities,” Langley said.
“We’re expecting a huge increase this year with the two historic court victories and the continued support of the military,” said Fernando Lopez, a spokesman for San Diego Pride.
Two years ago, more than 200 military personnel marched, last year there were 300, and Pride organizers are expecting to top that this year. Pride’s festival includes more than 80 musicians, bands, comedy and dance performers, 300 vendor booths, art exhibits, cultural presentations and food. The parade is part of a weekend-long festival held in Hillcrest – a longstanding gay community in San Diego.
